  • “South America” Episode – the Great Dusky Swifts sequence, nesting behind the waterfalls of Iguazu. 

  • “Europe” Episode – the European Hamster and the Iberian Lynx sequences. 

  • “Africa” Episode – the Oxpecker sequence, feeding on hippos.

  • “Burning North” Episode – the Mexican Prairie Dog sequence, encounter with a bull snake; and the Aplomado Hawk sequence, hunting as a pair. 

  • “Forests of the Maya” Episode – several sequences in the Yucatan, including the water-hole sequence and the bat colony sequence. 

2016

Planet Earth II (BBC) 

  • “Mountains” Episode – the Golden Eagles sequence, fighting in snow.

  • “Fire and Ice” Episode – the Torrent Ducks sequence, baby ducklings in rapids; and the Andean Condors sequence, flying over glaciers.

Wild Brazil (BBC) 

  • I filmed across all three episodes. I was the main cinematographer for the Coati story. I also filmed some of the Giant Otter and Jaguar sequences. 

 

Wonders of the Monsoon (BBC) 

  • “The Drought” Episode – the Vulture sequence in Cambodia; and the Desert Fox sequence in India. 

 

Wild Canada (CBC) 

  • “The Wild West” Episode – the Dall Sheep sequence, predation by Golden Eagles. 

 

Life Story (BBC) 

  • “Parenthood” Episode – the gray langur sequence. 

2013

North America (Silverback Films/Discovery) 

  • I filmed across several episodes in the series. Highlights included: The Peregrine Falcon sequence, attacking brown pelicans in flight. The Caliope Hummingbird sequence, slow-motion courtship display. The Snow Geese sequence, huge flocks attacked by Bald Eagles. The Acorn Woodpecker Sequence, fighting off ground squirrels from larder. The Californian Condors sequence, winter feeding. The Harris’s Hawk sequence, communal hunting. 

 

Africa (BBC) 

  • “Savannah” Episode – the Shoebill sequence, nesting and siblicide. 

  • “Congo” Episode – the Picathartes sequence, nesting; the African Skimmer sequence, learning to skim; and the Loango National Park sequence, Elephants and other wildlife on the beach.

  • “Island of Marvels” Episode – various sequences including Panther and Pygmy Chameleons, Verreaux’s Sifaka and Grandidier’s Mongoose. 

  • “Lost Worlds” Episode – various sequences including Madagascar Paradise Flycatchers nesting and Wasps attacking tadpoles. 

  • “Land of Heat and Dust” – various sequences including Ring-tailed and Verreaux’s Lemurs. 

2009

Life (BBC) 

  • “Challenges of Life” Episode – Clark’s Grebe sequence, courtship display. 

Episode Winner of Primetime Emmy Craft Award: Outstanding Cinematography - Nonfiction 

  • “Birds” Episode – I was the principal cameraman on this episode. Sequences include: Lammergeiers dropping bones to extract the marrow. Red-billed Tropicbirds chased by Magnificent Frigatebirds as they bring food to their chicks. Red Knot feeding on the eggs of Horseshoe Crabs during migration. Lesser Flamingos courtship and nesting in volcanic lake. Sage Grouse courtship display. Clark’s and Western Grebes courtship display. Vogelkop Bowerbirds bower construction and courtship display. 

  • “Primates” Episode – various sequences including: Hamadryas Baboons, huge groups living in harsh conditions; Sumatran Orangutan, mother and baby; Phayre’s Leaf Monkey, mother and baby. 

 

Nature’s Great Events (BBC) 

  • “The Great Feast” Episode – Herring spawning, Humpback and Sea Lion sequences. 

2008

Various sequences filmed for this feature-length wildlife film.

  • “Treasure Islands” Episode – various sequences, including Magnificent Frigatebirds, Scarlet Ibis, Howler Monkeys and the Silky Anteater. 

2006

Planet Earth (BBC)

  • “Pole to Pole” Episode – the Amur Leopard sequence, mother and cub in snow; the Baikel Teal sequence, huge flocks gathering. 

Episode was Winner of the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography: Nonfiction 

  • “Mountains” Episode – the Demoiselle Crane sequence, migration over, mountains and predation by Golden Eagles. 

  • “Deserts” Episode – the Guanaco and Atacama fog sequence. 

  • “Ice Worlds” Episode – the Eider Duck polynya sequence, wintering in ice holes; the Little Auk sequence, nesting and attacked by gulls; and the Arctic Skua sequence, nesting and chasing Reindeer. 

  • “Seasonal Forests” Episode – the Amur Leopard sequence, mother and cub; the Capercaillie sequence, courtship display and fighting at lek.
